Kiwi Fruit
Kiwis are another fruit that originated in China. Sometimes known as the Chinese Gooseberry, the name Kiwifruit was given to the fruit by growers in New Zealand. Grown on climbing vines, the fruit is actually a berry, the juicy flesh of which is edible including the tiny black seeds and the soft core. The most common variety has a brown, hairy skin and green flesh; there is another slightly less tart variety with a yellow, almost hairless skin and golden yellow flesh.
As well as being ever-so-tasty and refreshing, kiwifruits are ever-so-good for you. Well known for its high vitamin C content, Kiwifruits also contain vitamins E, and K, and potassium and copper, and additionally are a good source of fibre too.
