Raspberry
The juicy raspberry is sweet but ever so slightly tart, with two seasons, summer and autumn, although commercially available for most of the year. Grown in temperate climates, where chilling requirements are met, the berries are found on short, slightly prickly bush of stems called canes. Raspberries are actually a number of little stone fruits, about 100 per fruit, each of which contain pulp around a single seed. A ripe raspberry comes cleanly away from the stem to which it was attached leaving a 'core' behind on the plant, and a void in the raspberry. Not all raspberries are red, it's possible to find yellow, white, purple and black raspberries, but most found in shops are the customary red.
Raspberries are a good source of vitamins C, and K, manganese and magnesium.
