Dried Muscatel Raisins

Muscatel raisins are the dried fruits of the Muscat family of grape, that are also grown for wine. Muscatel raisins are large, dark, sweet, and slightly sticky with the scent of reminiscent of the grape. It may also contain a couple of seeds, unlike most raisins. Muscatel raisins are less commonly found than seedless types, but are prized for their 'meat' and richer flavour. Raisins are sweet due to the high concentration of sugars, which is mostly fructose. They are high in antioxidants, although low in vitamin C, with some smaller amounts potassium, copper and manganese.
